Muckross, Near Slieve League Cliffs
Reader Question: Please tell me about Donegal Coastal Tours. Also, Slieve League Cliffs, the Atlantic coast, and other attractions that I can visit on a guided day tour from Donegal Town in mid-April. Please include Giants Causeway. I'll be staying at the Mill Park Hotel. I read your Donegal Town Travel Guide article, it was very helpful. Thank you.
Our Reply: Hello Jeanine. We've looked into this for you, and you might be pleased to know that the Donegal Coastal Tours company (a small local operator and taxi service) offers bespoke guided day tours on request throughout the year, except on Christmas day (link opens new window).
As an example, a tour to the magnificent Slieve League Cliffs could include a stop at Killybegs fishing port, followed by a scenic Atlantic coastal drive to pretty Kilcar village for a Donegal Tweed hand-weaving demonstration. From there you would visit the Slieve League cliffs before heading further west to the historic thatched cottages at Glencolmcille Folk Village. Your return journey could be via the dramatic Glengesh mountain pass and Ardara village, a nice place to shop for traditional Irish knitwear, Donegal Tweeds and more.
To visit Giants Causeway with Donegal Coastal Tours, you would need to book a second tour. This attraction is quite a long distance away, and is more or less in the opposite direction from Slieve League Cliffs. The Giants Causeway is not in County Donegal, but in Northern Ireland (a UK jurisdiction). Because of its popularity, though, Donegal tour operators sometimes include this attraction on their itineraries.
A browse through our two articles, Donegal Town Attractions and Donegal Town Day Trips will help you discover more attractions in and near Donegal Town that you might also enjoy.

Donegal Coastal Tours will collect your party from your hotel, or from another location of your choosing. They can carry up to eight passengers in either a taxi (car) or a people-carrier and are very flexible. They merely ask that you book your tour at least several days in advance, and they'll take you and your party to whichever sights and attractions you'd like to see.
To book a tour with Donegal Coastal Tours and to make enquiries, you need to contact Andy Quinn either by e-mail at: donegalcoastaltours@gmail.com or on his cellphone at: (00353) 87 262 0670 from outside Ireland, or 087 262 0670 from within Ireland.
Tip:You mentioned that you'll be staying at the Mill Park Hotel, which is on the outskirts of town. If you're arriving by Bus Eireann, the bus stop for Donegal Town is approximately one kilometer from this hotel,so with baggage you'll need a taxi. The taxi rank is just across the street from the bus stop.
